A community member donated a whole box full of old sewing notions and patterns to our quilting and needlework group. It was fun going through the items, and I brought these home with me. Not so much because I'll use them, though I might in some of those vintage-style note cards, but more because I just liked them. They reminded me of sewing through the years, and how things gradually change so that we barely notice. Zippers with metal teeth are hard to find now. So are wooden thread spools. But just look at the prices on these notions! Every item less than fifty cents. I wonder when these were purchased? I like old notions almost as much as I like old quilts, and am drawn to antique store displays of pincushions and sewing ephemera. Now I have this little collection of my own.

I agree, these vintage items are very cool to have around and get a load of those prices? Can you buy anything at all for 15 cents these days?
These are amazing....don't know when I've seen a wooden spool or a metal zipper....Cant wait to see what you do with them or if you just enjoy .
Have a great weekend....
You are so lucky! Aren't these great trinkets to have! My DIL gave me boxes of her grandmothers and the zippers had a price of 10cents on them. I have patterns from the 1920's!!! I love them. Enjoy yours!!!!
I love those too. I have a small collection including the sewing box of a grandmother that did not really sew. That's why she still had stuff in the original package complete with the pricing.... That is what really makes it special to me is to see that price.
Oh how I love to go through those boxes, and I can't pass up a wooden spool.
Oh my goodness, I would love to see all that is in the box. It would probably make me misty eyed because i probably would recognize them from my mothers sewing box.
